The history of Bridgestone Tires dates back to 1931 when the company was founded by Shojiro Ishibashi in Japan. In 1988 the Bridgestone Corporation purchased The Firestone Tire & Rubber Company, which had been founded in 1900 by Harvey Firestone. Combining these two powerhouse tire brands into one operation turned Bridgestone into the world’s largest tire company. Bridgestone Tire established their headquarters in Nashville, TN where it remains today.
